Orient Bambino V4 review: a real dress watch on a budget

A classic round dress watch with a white dial and tan leather strap, held in one hand.

The Orient Bambino is the watch we reach for when someone wants their first proper dress watch without spending first-proper-dress-watch money. The Version 4 is the one we’d point you to today.

The movement earns its keep

Under the dial sits Orient’s own F6724 automatic — 22 jewels, 21,600 beats per hour, and roughly 40 hours of power reserve. The important upgrade over older Bambinos: this generation both hacks (the seconds hand stops when you pull the crown, so you can set it precisely) and hand-winds. For an in-house movement at this price, that is genuinely hard to argue with.

Accuracy from this movement family settles into a perfectly usable daily rate. It is not chronometer-grade, and we would never sell it as such — but you will not be chasing the time.

On the wrist

The case is 42mm wide and about 11.8mm thick, with a 48.2mm lug-to-lug and 22mm lugs. That is dressy in style but a touch large in size — on a 6.5-inch wrist it wears bigger than a classic dress watch, so try before you commit if your wrist is slim.

The domed crystal is the signature look: it throws that lovely distortion at the edges. Be honest with yourself, though — it is mineral, not sapphire, so it will pick up scratches more easily than you might like. That is the real trade-off at this tier.

The one thing to remember

Water resistance is only 30 metres. In plain terms: hand-washing and rain, nothing more. No swimming, no showering. Treat it as a dry-wrist watch and it will thank you.

Who it’s for

If you want applied indices, dauphine hands and a domed dial that reads like a watch costing several times more, the Bambino V4 delivers. It sits at the friendly end of our range — expect roughly BDT 18,000–24,000 for a good pre-owned or grey piece, with crown action and crystal condition mattering most. The 22mm lugs also make strap-swapping trivial, so one watch can cover a lot of looks.

Four out of five, and the missing point is entirely the crystal and water resistance. Message us to check what’s in stock and its exact condition.
